Renaming a product category
Giving a category a new name is quick to do, and keeping category names clear and up to date helps customers find what they`re after and keeps your store looking tidy.
What you can do here
- Rename any product category to something clearer or more on-brand
- Check what else might need updating after the rename, like menu links and page titles
- Confirm the category`s web address still works the way you expect
Step by step
- Go to Dashboard > Products > Manage Categories
- Find the category you want to rename and open it
- Click the Rename button and enter the new name
- Save your changes
Tips
- Menu items that link to this category by name may need updating too, since a rename doesn`t automatically update your menu labels
- Check the category`s meta title and meta de script ion if you`d like the new name reflected in search results
- Look out for any blog posts or web pages linking to the category by name
- The category`s URL may or may not change depending on how it was originally set up, so check the live page after renaming to make sure links still work as expected
