Adding a product category
Categories help you organise your flowers and gifts so customers can find what they`re looking for. Here`s how to add a new one.
What you can do here
- Create a new product category
- Choose whether it`s a Flower, Occasion or Addon category
- Set the SEO details for the category page
- Add content that shows above or below your products
- Set purchasing options like same-day delivery and pre-order days
Step by step
- Log in to My Weblogin and click Products.
- Click Manage Categories.
- Click Add Product Category.
- Category Name - enter a name for the category. Avoid special characters like , % & , spaces are fine and will be replaced with hyphens in the page`s web address.
- Category Type - choose whether the category is a Flower, Occasion or Addon.
- Properties - this is where you set the SEO information:
- Category Title - this can be left blank and will use the category name automatically. Fill it in only if you want the page heading to be different from the category name.
- Meta Keywords - used by search engines to understand what the page is about. A few relevant words is enough.
- Meta De script ion - shown by search engines under your page title in search results. Write a sentence or two using your key words.
- Content - anything you add here appears at the top of the category page, just below the heading.
- Trailing Content - anything you add here appears after the products on the category page.
- Purchasing Options - manage how customers can buy from this category, including restricting purchase, marking it as not available for same-day delivery, and setting a pre-order day.
- Click Add Type.
Tips
- Choose your category name carefully changing it later can break links to your site, so it`s best to get it right from the start.
- Keep your Meta De script ion short and to the point, it helps customers know what to expect before they click through.
- Use Purchasing Options to manage busy periods, like turning off same-day delivery when you need extra lead time.
Ask the assistant
You can also ask the assistant to help you set up or update a category. Try something like:
- "Add a new Occasion category called Sympathy Flowers"
- "Turn off same-day delivery for my Wedding Flowers category"
- "Update the meta de script ion for my Birthday Flowers category"
