SMS order notifications (order made, pickup, route, delivery)
Flower Store In a Box can send automatic SMS notifications to customers at key points in their order journey. SMS is useful for customers who prefer text over email, or whose inboxes send your messages to spam. Additional costs apply for SMS notifications.
What you can do here
- Turn SMS notifications on or off
- Choose which order events trigger an SMS
- Write separate messages for delivery orders and pickup orders
- Keep customers updated automatically or trigger messages yourself from the dashboard
Step by step
- Log in to your dashboard.
- Click Notifications in the main menu.
- Enable the SMS notification events you want to use.
- Write your custom message for delivery orders and pickup orders.
- Save your changes.
Some notifications send automatically when an order is placed or a date arrives. Others are triggered manually from the dashboard when you update an order status.
Automatic notifications
- Order placed (tax invoice sent via email)
- Pre-ordered delivery (SMS sent on the morning of delivery day)
- Pre-ordered pickup (SMS sent on the morning of pickup day)
Dashboard-triggered notifications
- Order available for pickup (triggered when you mark the order as "Made" in the advanced workflow)
- Order on route for delivery
- Printed order (triggered when the status is changed to Printed)
- Pre-ordered orders (an SMS is sent on the day of delivery if the order was pre-ordered)
- Order delivered (triggered on status change)
Tips
- Each SMS has a 160-character limit. The order ID reference takes 10 characters, leaving around 150 characters for your custom message, so keep your wording short and clear.
- If you want to include a link, use a URL shortening service such as Bitly to keep the character count low.
- Remember that SMS notifications come with additional costs, so only enable the events that matter most to your customers.
Ask the assistant
You can also ask the assistant to help you set up or update your SMS notifications. Try something like:
