Privacy and legal settings

Add your privacy statement and terms of use to checkout so customers can see them before they buy. This helps build trust and is often required for payment gateway compliance.

What you can do here

  • Link your Privacy URL to the web page containing your privacy statement
  • Link your Terms of Use / Legal Statement to the web page containing your terms and conditions
  • Turn on Require Terms and Conditions in Checkout so customers must agree before completing their order

Step by step

  1. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Checkout Settings > Checkout Options and find the Privacy & Legal section
  2. Choose the privacy and terms of use pages to link - both fields are dropdowns that pull from your existing web pages, so create the relevant pages first under Dashboard > My Website > My Web Pages if you have not already
  3. Turn on Require Terms and Conditions in Checkout
  4. Save your changes

Tips

  • Create your privacy and terms pages before you start, so they are ready to choose from the dropdowns
  • These links typically appear in your checkout and footer, so keep the pages up to date
  • Turning on the Terms and Conditions requirement gives you an extra layer of protection by getting clear customer agreement at checkout

Ask the assistant

You can also ask the assistant to help with your privacy and legal settings, for example:

  • "Link my privacy policy page to checkout"
  • "Turn on Require Terms and Conditions in Checkout"
  • "Where do I set up my terms and conditions page?"
